The viewpoint is accessed from the village of the same name, Orellan, via a steep 1.5 km path that starts in a southeasterly direction, or by the perimeter trail that begins in the village of Las Médulas.
It is possible to access by car to the viewpoint’s parking area, a zone which in Roman times was a large water reservoir used for the works of ruina montium. The site constitutes a privileged watchtower to contemplate the archaeological area of Las Médulas, where the breadth of the removed land and the mining fronts of up to 100 m in thickness can be observed, the remains of the old related galleries, as well as the channels that end at the foot of the large regulation and distribution reservoir of La Horta, located right at the foot of the viewpoint.
It is equipped with a wooden path, with benches to rest, and information panels about the place and the trails leading to the different areas. The impressive panoramic view, where the typical reddish earth spires dominate, makes it one of the places that gathers the highest number of visitors. From the viewpoint area, access is provided to visit one of the Roman galleries.
